The St. Charles Chill professional hockey club announced Tuesday at a press conference at The Family Arena the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has signed the first three players in team history. Forwards Jordan Fox and Kyle Kraemer as well as defenseman Tony DeHart have all signed with the Chill for the team’s inaugural season.
“We are extremely excited to add three players of this caliber to our team,” said Chill head coach and general manager Jamie Rivers. “The fact that all three players are from this area is a testament to the quality of hockey being played in and around St. Charles.”
Fox, 28 (7/10/84), is entering his eighth professional season having played the last two seasons for the Nottingham Panthers in Englands. The Kirkwood, Missouri native averaged over a point per contest in his last two seasons with 137 points (39-98=137) in 116 games. Overall, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound center has played in 424 games professionally and has accounted for 135 goals and 245 assists for 379 points.
Kraemer, 28 (2/15/85), enters his fourth season professionally and first in the CHL. The St. Louis, Missouri native played each of his first three professional seasons with the ECHL’s Ontario Reign. He had his best season last year when he had career highs with 71 points and 30 goals and was named to the All-ECHL Second Team. Overall, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound forward has 165 points (71-94=165) and 185 penalty minutes in 185 games. He played four seasons at Northeastern University prior to turning professional.
DeHart, 23 (3/20/90), is a fifth round draft pick (125th overall) of the New York Islanders from the 2010 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound defenseman played the previous two seasons with the ECHL’s Stockton Thunder. In 108 games with the Thunder, the Ballwin, Missouri native had 42 points (9-33=42) and 103 penalty minutes. He also played two games for the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Springfield Falcons following his junior career with the Oshawa Generals.
The Chill will begin their inaugural season in the Central Hockey League in October 2013. The team will play 33 home games at The Family Arena. Season tickets are currently on sale now and start at under $10 per game. For more information on the Chill, call (636) 447-8200.
